The Association for Electronic Music (AFEM) returned to International Music Summit Ibiza 2026, placing renewed focus on the infrastructure, technology, and evolving systems shaping the global electronic music landscape.
Presented under the AFEM Electronic Futures banner, the programme centred on the mechanics behind the music, from rights frameworks and artist development to the rapid acceleration of new tools reshaping how music is created, distributed, and monetised.
Across the week, conversations moved through artificial intelligence, shifting revenue models, data-led ecosystems, and the increasing pressure on artists and industry professionals to adapt within an environment that continues to change at pace. 
Rather than positioning these developments as distant projections, the discussions highlighted how deeply they are already embedded in day-to-day creative workflows and industry operations.
A key thread running through IMS Ibiza 2026 was balance, specifically, how electronic music continues to expand through technology while still attempting to retain the cultural identity and community foundations that shaped its early growth.
Alongside this, AFEM continued its Electronic Futures initiative, spotlighting global electronic music culture while reinforcing the link between artistic output and the wider industry systems that support it.
That focus on connectivity was present throughout the wider IMS programme, though expressed in more structural and practical terms rather than symbolic language.
In partnership with AlphaTheta, IMS Ibiza 2026 unfolded over three days, bringing together artists, executives, and wider industry voices for a programme of talks, networking, and cross-sector exchange across Ibiza.
The summit spanned multiple formats and locations, from the core discussion stages to The Art of Areté presented by AlphaTheta, IMS Academy presented by Pete Tong DJ Academy & AlphaTheta, The Brave Space presented by HE.SHE.THEY., workshops, showcases, nightlife programming, and the closing sessions at IMS Dalt Vila.
Framed by Reclaim the Dancefloor, this year’s Summit explored how electronic music can progress without drifting away from the cultural foundations that continue to define it.
Rather than leaning into abstract positioning, the programme reflected a more grounded question at its core: how the scene moves forward while maintaining relevance, access, and cultural continuity.
IMS Ibiza 2026 closed with thanks to speakers, partners, sponsors, delegates, artists, venues, and collaborators who contributed to shaping the event across the three-day gathering.
