2012: A Year In Review by Derek Dellovo

What a year 2012 has been. In just 12 short months electronic dance music, especially in the United States, has grown to a size many never thought was possible. In many peoples’ eyes the DJ has all but replaced the idea of the rock star; there is no telling to what size the music and culture surrounding it will continue to grow and morph. Despite some hard to ignore problems – Paris Hilton, Justin Bieber attempting dubstep, etc – I believe the thousands of producers and DJs pouring their energy and lives into the scene more than overshadow the negatives. I’ve compiled a few top lists to highlight who I think came out on top this year, and one for what I hope will improve next year.
