Apparently, the pitched kick is here to stay. Pete Tong recently aired Hardwell‘s remix of Alive by Krewella. As an avid Hardwell fan I regret to say that this is among his worst productions to date. Given the emotional original mix he had to work with, his version of the song doesn’t add much but is definitely still worth a listen. The piano driven melody adds a light-hearted tone that lends itself very well to the lyrics from the original track, but the drop is very much typical of the current electro-house paradigm. This is sure to be a popular festival song amongst house DJ’s this summer, and perhaps the song will deliver more live than it will through laptop speakers, but I can’t help but be disappointed given the caliber of the remixing artist.
