It would remiss not take a moment to acknowledge the artists that share the themes of electronic dance music. Here are three artists to keep on your radar in 2014, whether in electronica or coming from a wholly different style of music.

Kele Okereke

The frontman of alt rock group Bloc Party decided to venture into new waters in 2013. Kele Okereke signed a deal with popular deep label Crosstown Rebels for a number of tracks, as part of the Heartbreaker EP. How better to describe this than upbeat UK garage, Dusky‘s happy cousin. “Heartbreaker” clocks in at 125 BPM, be sure to get this one in at peaktime during any deep set.

Fun and exhilarating synth pop group CHVRCHES took 2013 by storm with their The Bones Of What We Believe album. One of their songs, “Tether“, was given an official remix by Junior Sanchez. Why give such attention to a group like this? Porter Robinson cited CHVRCHES as a group that has been impacting his own tastes. Look out for this group performing a variety of gigs in America this spring, including Terminal 5 in May.

Autre Ne Veut

One man operation Autre Ne Veut is producing the music you’ve been sorely missing. Autre Ne Veut takes a cue from classic work by Coldplay or Radiohead versus more modern outlets, like any number of alternative trap artists. The layering of the vocals and the hi-hats during the chorus make the whole “Counting” track by Autre Ne Veut. Admittedly the artist has been quiet as of late, but this likely means 2014 will lead to a grand return by Autre Ne Veut.
