Skrillex Lands Rolling Stone Cover, Chats About Emotionally Driven Music & More

All anybody can talk about right now is Skrillex. With his recent marketing craze surrounding his album Recess, which is set for release on March 18th, the world is in his hands. That includes Rolling Stone, who are putting Sonny on the cover of their next issue that will also feature an interview from Sonny. Some of that interview was published online already, with the producer mentioning a term “vibescapes” as well as making the statement that the experience he delivers is “more about the fans.”

In bringing up the previously mentioned vibescapes, Skrillex elaborates on this by saying that his music has an underlying emotion that drives the song; listeners can pick up on this organic emotive force that may explain why Skrillex’s music is so powerful. He wants to deliver a lasting experience to audiences and that should be no surprise given the immense efforts focused on not only the music, but the live show and even the Alien Ride app that allows for users to feel like they are a part of something special. Skrillex even admits they will not make as much money going the route they did with the mobile app, but that isn’t phasing him one bit. If that’s not humility, then I don’t know what is.

The physical print of the Rolling Stone issue comes out this Friday, March 14. The online source can be found here.
