Future bass, trap’s glitchier, groovier counterpart and Jersey Club, a rebirth of the classic Baltimore club sound: these genres have absolutely exploded over the last year and continue to gain traction within the US and beyond. With so many talented producers vibing on these new styles of music, the level of innovation and inspiration we’ve seen so far has been absolutely mind-blowing. To illustrate this, allow me to present you with Jailo and Kappa Kavi, a pair of eccentric, anime-loving music makers hailing from the Netherlands.
These two have been absolutely crushing it lately and their latest EP, Asteroids, only ups the ante. The release is all over the place in the best way possible; six original tracks, each unique and engaging in it’s own respect, bump and grind their way across the full spectrum of alternative bass music. It’s Jersey Club, it’s future bass, and then suddenly, without warning, it’s somehow both. Seamless blending of genres permeates the EP in ridiculously clever ways and, to top it off, the duo tossed in wonderfully nostalgic samples from Pokemon and other classic anime. As if all that wasn’t enough, the EP also includes 5 champion remixes from the likes of Bleep Bloop, G Jones, and others from the Saturate! Records crew.
If you’re looking to get your mind blown, don’t sleep on Asteroids. Best of all, Jailo and Kappa Kavi have released the EP as a Free/Name Your Price download! Grab it from the Saturate! Records Bandcamp page and make sure to support these ridiculously talented artists!
