This past Sunday was a blast at Phoenix Lights Festival. I was extremely impressed by the venue when I walked in. The two outdoor stages were prefectly set up, and getting around the place was no hard task. The public art sculpture “Her Secret Is Patience” hung above everyone, and it wonderfully lit up the night sky once the sun went down. As people drenched in bright colored garb and accessories gathered to meet their friends, the opening acts spun a wide variety of tunes everyone could enjoy. From Tranzit and Dan Lunsford, to Bijou and Michele Sparks, everyone did an amazing job.
People were up and moving to Lane 8’s incredible set. The energy was only picking up as people got down to his chill and electronic tunes filled with massive bass. Kill The Buzz surprised everyone with an awesome house filled performance, getting people on their feet for a good time.
Jauz has been taking over the scene with his hard hitting future house tunes, and he was one of the fan favorites at this event. I don’t think the people who witnessed his set will ever be the same. Zeds Dead was truly one of the best sets of the night. Their heavy dubstep immersed the crowd, and there was not a sad face in sight.
Route 94 and Secondcity made quite an impression with a deep house infused set. They went back to back for hours with an electronic experience not to be forgotten. To close out the evening, Hardwell came, played, and conquered his Arizona fan base, making this festival a dream come true. The after party was even more intense, with acts Bijou, Zeds Dead, and Drezo spinning to keep the music lovers entertained until the early morning hours.
In summary, this was one of the best festival experiences I’ve had in Arizona. But the venue was an excellent choice, as it captured the true nature of the Arizona culture. We cherish not only music, but works of art as well. Phoenix Lights Festival, Relentless Beats, and True Music all get gold stars for their beautiful work. I really enjoyed the music, but the fans who attended and the companies who put this together was what made it all a very happy and excellent experience. I can’t wait to see what else Arizona will have in store.
