Jamie Jones Defends EDM – Even Steve Aoki

Now here’s something you don’t see everyday – someone is actually defending EDM. There’s been no shortage of DJs calling out other DJs within the community, especially ones who are “fake DJs” or make carbon-copy electro house that climbs up the Beatport charts. Most of time it’s techno/house/underground legends calling out mainstream EDM for killing dance music, but when Beatport sat down with house producer Jamie Jones last month at WMC, he might have been the first to openly be okay with it. When asked about this thoughts regarding the mainstream vs. underground debate he commented:

“I think discriminating against any event that’s making people party for 2 hours listening to any DJ even if they’re throwing cakes or whatever, people are having a good time…it’s just a party.”
