It’s not an easy feat for an album to rise, fall, and then rise again on a Billboard chart. Most albums from bigger artists debut high, stay on for a couple weeks, and then gradually fall as more albums release. This week, David Guetta defied the odds by having his 2014 album Listen hit the top spot on Billboard’s Dance/Electronic Albums chart after weeks without appearing on the chart.
Originally released on November 24, 2014, Listen had only spent four total weeks at the top of the chart up to this point. The album’s recent success was aided by its re-release Listen Again, but the two releases have since merged to represent one album. This new rise to the top was bolstered by an iTunes discount, helping the album sell 2,000 copies over the week. That’s 84 percent up from its previous sales, showing the power behind a simple iTunes discount.
