Soundcloud Responds To Rumors Of Tighter Regulation On DJ Mixes

A recent report from Digital Music News purports that Soundcloud will soon be implementing increased and stricter regulations on DJ mixes uploaded to its platform. DMN’s source told them, “I don’t think the DJs are going to be happy. Probably piss off a lot of subscribers too,” referring to people under the new Soundcloud Go system.

However, we reached out to a Soundcloud spokesperson who says that DMN’s report is “not true at all.” An official statement from Soundcloud on the matter reads:

“The story has no truth to it. At SoundCloud, we’re on a mission to create a place where all creativity can live. SoundCloud’s creator community, including DJs, is incredibly important to us.”

Other reports corroborating DMN’s story are also false.

Soundcloud has been in hot water for many things recently, but at the core of its business model are sound creators, and alienating them from their service would only result in complete business failure. It would be foolish to think that Soundcloud would go as far as to place massive restrictions on mix uploads.
