When we think of Christmas music, we think of Mariah Carey‘s “All I Want for Christmas Is You.” Which is, undoubtedly, one of the most successful holiday songs of all time.
According to a new report, the pop star has earned over $60 million collectively for her smash hit. Since its 1994 release, “All I Want for Christmas Is You” has racked up millions each year for royalties and streaming.
Mariah Carey remade “Silent Night,” “O Holy Night,” “Joy to the World” and more for her Christmas collection, but nothing stuck like the original tune she wrote and produced alongside Walter Afanasieff. Though the timeless carol is all about love rather than frivolous gifting, the song has made her a pretty penny along the way. It’s truly the gift that keeps on giving.
“All I Want for Christmas Is You” also recently became the highest-charting holiday song on Billboard’s Hot 100 in 60 years, which resurged to the No. 6 spot.
Listen all over again and get in the Christmas spirit!
