Kanye West is breaking the mold with his latest Yeezy shoe design, the Foam Runners.
It’s taking every ounce of our energy to not say, “Weird flex, but ok.” However, this algae-based shoe is eco-conscious and made right here in America, which is actually an awesome flex on Ye’s part. Whether they’re stylish or not is still up for debate.
The Croc-like design pictured above was produced in Atlanta with a blend of EVA and algae foam harvested straight from ponds. West revealed plans for a hydroponic farm, where his company can grow its own algae, at the Yeezy headquarters in Cody, Wyoming,
“Eco-concerns are intersecting with what we do,” head designer at Yeezy, Steven Smith said. “This is just the beginning of the future that Kanye envisioned for us to start working on.”
The eco-friendly shoes will be available for purchase in 2020 for $75, priced relatively low compared to some of his other designs.
