R3HAB Goes Deep and Hard with New Single and Remix

Original Photo by Jochem Schuiling

R3HAB continues his massive hot streak that is 2020. It seems like every week has seen either another new release or new remix from the Moroccan-Dutch producer/DJ. This week is no different. I can only dream of having the consistency in my everyday endeavors that R3HAB has. Despite the high output, the quality of each release just keeps getting better and better.

His new original track of the week, “Family Values,” sees R3HAB team up with Scottish singer-songwriter Nina Nesbitt. The track is about the deepest we’ve ever seen R3HAB go. As per usual, the production on the verses is pretty minimal, relying on a few piano notes. As R3HAB is known to do, he let’s the vocals shine through. I hadn’t heard of Nina Nesbitt before, but I sure do know her now. The drop features a deep and grooving bassline, it’s almost more reminiscent of Duke Dumont or more club oriented house. Here’s what R3HAB had to say about “Family Values.”

“I got to know Nina’s voice when I remixed her ‘Somebody Special’, and I’m happy we got to create ‘Family Values’ together. Nina’s writing style is clever and surprising, which makes working on songs exciting and fun. She’s got the best sense of humor and a fun outlook on the world, and I think our song captures that perfectly.”

Oh, we’re not done yet. You know R3HAB had a remix to drop too, and this one is a straight banger. R3HAB just remixed L.A. based pop-rock duo Stereo Jane’s “I Don’t Wanna Talk About Me.” Comprised of fraternal twins Sydney and Mia; on first glance, you might think, oh, this is going to be like HAIM. Not the case. While the original version of the song showcases the girls’ synth-pop sensibilities and ability to create a groove, R3HAB takes it to the next level.

R3HAB adds new layers of production and percussion to the original, giving it a much more urgent feel. The drop/chorus features some heavy low-end synths that give the track a sort of G-house/hip-hop feel. No doubt this remix is made for the clubs and to be played on some loud speakers. The trippy video features Sydney and Mia in a much different light than the original track.

Check out the latest from R3HAB. “Family Values” with Nina Nesbitt is out now on R3HAB’s own CYB3RPVNK label. The R3HAB remix of Stereo Jane’s “I Don’t Wanna Talk About Me” is out now via Live TMG.
