Damn the Pan(demic)! Save the Portal! D&B/Bass Portal to Put on a Massive, Weekend-Long Livestream

If you’ve been lucky enough to catch a live stream or very high-quality live set from a festival or show in Europe and the UK in recent years, chances are D&B or Bass Portal are behind it. The Prague-based film and stream crew regularly film some of the largest festivals in the world, including Let It Roll, Imagination Festival, Beats for Love and the too-cool-for-most-of-us Darkshire. D&B and Bass Portal also stream from their own studios and premiere new tracks from the likes of Audio, Counterstrike and Teddy Killerz, just to name a few.

Before the COVID pandemic, the Portals were also expanding into multi-genre raves and building their studio streams more and more. Predictably, however, since the live festival and entertainment industry has all but vanished in a matter of months, businesses like D&B/Bass Portal are also in danger. These cheeky Czechs have soldiered on during the pandemic with even more live studio streams in an attempt to keep quarantined music fans entertained, but maintenance costs a fleet of filming and streaming equipment and man hours creating, editing and producing the streams seem to be piling up and the Portal is in very real danger of closing until further notice.

D&B Portal set up a HitHit (similar to GoFundMe) campaign and reached out to fans for donations two weeks ago, but being one of the best streaming channels in the world, they also decided to do a livestream telethon this weekend, November 14-15 from 11am to 11pm (CET) each day. That’s 24 hours of bass, people, and because it’s such a long set, no matter where you are in the world, it’s likely you’ll be able to catch some of it. Tomorrow’s stream will be a D&B focus and feature 12 of Czechia’s D&B and neurofunk rising stars. Sunday will be multi-genre, with 12 more artists pumping our bass-heavy sets. The event will stream on D&B/Bass Portal’s YouTube and Twitch channel, more details below.

To donate directly to D&B and Bass portal any time, fans can click here. Each donation tier comes with prizes including D&B Portal hoodies, t-shirts, signed vinyl copies from the likes of Alix Perez (sold out) and NickBee and even the opportunity to have your own DJ set streamed on the Portals. It’s a true telethon, and let’s faces it: much better gifts than PBS. So tune in tomorrow, give if you can, share the event and #SaveThePortal!
