Fresh off the heels of his first original release of the year, Benny Benassi is back with another club track, “DayDream.” Teaming up with London-based “dark-pop” duo Bloom Twins, “Daydream” is a certified after-hours banger. Benny’s long time fans should love the metronome like synth-work that recalls his early 2010’s work. In a true quarantine success story, this song came about by Bloom Twins sliding into Benny’s DM’s! After going back and forth, it turns out these artists are a perfect match.
The track opens with the Bloom Twins vocals, there’s a very simple clap keeping the beat, and the old school synths from Benny Benassi. Like, I said, this definitely evokes a time when these types of tracks had a certain underground sensibility. The tempo picks up to a four-four beat to and the Bloom Twins vocals keep up in pace. After a dark and brooding breakdown, the house beat and synths continue along with the vocals. This is what the artists had to say about the origins of “Daydream.”
“We started writing this track on our first visit to LA, just before the world went into lockdown, and then sent it to Benny late last year. That was a DM that turned our quarantine from restricting to mind-blowing! We love what he has done to the song in terms of production and arrangement, and couldn’t be more excited to have this be our first release of 2021. It’s an honor to work with someone of his iconic stature – and we look forward to playing it out as things open up.” – Bloom Twins
“When I first received this tune from Bloom Twins I instantly liked its vibe and I thought it could become something special. With my team, I started playing around with our synths to see if it would fit in my musical world. I really really love the atmosphere that we managed to create – it’s a perfect union of our two styles.” – BB
