Skrillex Selects His Top 5 Favorite Tracks

Another week, another Skrillex Selects and this time OWSLA’s head honcho Sonny Moore decided to diversify with some rather interesting selections. Accompanying the 5 songs, Sonny himself gave a short description of each track and why he picked them. Below are the descriptions by Skrillex. Enjoy.

Hundred Waters – Show Me Love [OWSLA]
You’ll remember this one as the leadoff track from Hundred Waters’ sophomore album, The Moon Rang Like A Bell, or possibly from the feelsy Coca Cola ad in the Super Bowl earlier this month. Nicole’s layered a cappella is beyond beauty and inescapably goosebump-inducing. If you like this one, make sure to check out Nicole’s acoustic version due out on the Remix LP later this month.

Dub Phizix and Strategy – Buffalo Charge [Senkasonic]
As Manchester DnB stalwart Dub Phizix describes, “This song is about buffalos.” What he doesn’t tell you is that “Buffalo Charge” is a skanking beast of a tune with a 100mph flow from homie and collaborator, Strategy. This one doesn’t sound like anything else you’ve listened to today.

ZHU x DJ Snake x DJ Mustard – Faded 2.0 [unreleased]
Two of the biggest producers in Hip Hop in 2014 revamp one of the biggest dance music tunes of the year. “One night in L.A we did this shit – thought we’d drop it,” says the Paris x Los Angeles connection. Glad they did, as they’ve transformed ZHU’s original, druggy vibe into a beastly, trapped out bruiser.

Party Thieves & ATLiens – Chîef [free download]
This is easily the biggest tune from our friends at Main Course so far in 2015. As our writer alphaGraph warned when we covered the collab from Party Thieves & ATLiens a couple weeks back, “The first half of the tune is a surefire bet for any debaucherous audience or lowkey house party, but beware of that second drop; it’s got some serious weight behind it.”

Keith Ape – 잊지마 (It G Ma) (feat. JayAllDay, Loota, Okasian & Kohh) [free download]

A+ Korean Rap from Keith Ape and a bunch of homies. If you haven’t seen the video for this yet, make sure you watch it.
