One of our favorite emerging labels right now is undoubtedly ShadowTrix Music. They have a knack for curating some of the freshest sounds in the scene, and they don’t slack on variety either. Case in point: their latest signee, Rhythmstar. The Los Angeles based beat hustler’s new EP, Blood MagiQ, is due for release on September 13th, but you can get an exclusive first listen right here, right now.
Rhythmstar has an undeniable talent for blending genres and ‘Alien Queen’ certainly puts it on display. The tune is an eclectic fusion of dancehall, trap, and hip-hop, featuring rapid-fire vocals from Deva Carolina. Tribal rhythms fueled by exotic percussion samples provide a wonderfully lush backdrop for the first half of the track; then, booming 808s take center stage alongside synthesized strings and dubby bass growls. This is bass music with a global appeal and it’s refreshing to hear such a diverse mix of influences contained within one track.
