Coachella 2026’s first weekend wrapped up on Sunday, April 12, after strong desert winds disrupted opening night and created challenging conditions for festivalgoers and campers.
On Friday, April 10, gusts strong enough to impact stage construction forced organisers to cancel Anyma’s highly anticipated midnight headline set on the main stage. The Italian electronic producer had spent over a year preparing his ambitious new ÆDEN live show, complete with new music and visuals, which was set to debut that night.
The decision to cancel the performance was made jointly by Goldenvoice and Anyma due to safety concerns. Addressing fans, he explained: “Safety was and always will be our biggest concern. The dangerous winds not only prevented us and Coachella from building our stage, but also made it impossible for my entire live setup and performance to operate safely.” 
Anyma described the cancellation as one of the toughest decisions of his career, sharing his disappointment with fans: “It’s incredibly painful, especially after working day and night for the past year — not just me, but my team and the Coachella crew, who poured everything into this.” He also apologised to those who had gathered at the stage or tuned into the livestream, adding: “I don’t have many words other than to say I’m truly devastated and deeply sorry to everyone who showed up to the main stage and to those watching the livestream at home.”
He later confirmed that the set would not be rescheduled for Weekend 1, but emphasised how much the performance meant to him: “Having the opportunity to perform the new ÆDEN show and share all the new music and art meant more to me than I can express.”
The cancellation came as the Coachella Valley experienced sustained winds of 5 to 15 mph, with gusts reaching up to 25 mph. A National Weather Service air-quality advisory for windblown dust remained in effect until Sunday morning, April 12.
Despite the setbacks, the remainder of Weekend 1 continued as planned, with headline performances going ahead as scheduled. Weekend 2 kicks off this Friday, April 17, and many are hoping for calmer conditions and smoother shows including the possibility of Anyma’s set returning in some form. While nothing has been confirmed, he has shared that he is exploring ways to present the new material without disrupting other artists’ sets.
