First you had Elders react to the Chainsmokers’ #SELFIE and now, brought to you once again by TheFineBros, is the hilarious video of Teens React to DJ Snake & Lil Jon’s “Turn Down For What.” What’s actually rather interesting and my biggest takeaway from the video is the diverse range of knowledge and awareness of EDM the teens have on the umbrella term, genre and scene. You have two obvious fans who list off Kaskade, Armin Van Buuren and a few others as their favorite artists, while others claim to have never heard the term. While this is a relatively small sample base, it’s still an interesting look into today’s teenagers’ general opinion of EDM. i will admit i didn’t get into edm until I turned 18, saw deadmau5 for my first time, one of those small festivals, 4 artists. It wasn’t really much to me, but now im an edm dj and its all i listen to, i dont miss any festivals in my area, edm is a main part of my life.
Ill wait till these kids turn 18 and theyre all going to be the mainstream edm fans. Animals 4 Life lol
those 2 or 3 kids who know of edm are the true few people that’ll love it for what it is.
I just wish kids knew about the plur lifestyle and respected it.
What would be cool is if these interviews all over Youtube that talk about the culture would actually interview people who have more knowledge on the subject. All these interviews just interview people who know nothing about the scene, only know the hit songs, or just know about the shows/festivals for the drugs. Really need to stop this one-sided view on this culture when actually its nothing like how the media describes it.
