This week, Art Basel will kick off in Miami with hundreds of art exhibitions and pop-up artist displays. Beyond the art, Miami will host a flurry of concerts from artists of all genres, and EDM shows once again play an integral part during the week. The sheet amount of options may overwhelm you, but do not fret; Your EDM is here to provide you with an itinerary for the week. Below, read our five recommendations for the best parties to attend during Art Basel.
Life and Death | Art Basel with Richie Hawtin, Tale of Us, & More – Mana Wynwood, December 3
Before the weekend kicks off, one of Art Basel’s best-looking events hits Mana Wynwood on December 3. Organized by PL0T and III Points, the Life and Death | Art Basel party will feature performances from Tale of Us, Thugfucker, Mind Against, and special guest Richie Hawtin. With one of the label’s founders, Greg Oreck of Thugfucker, present to represent their highly influential record label, the party will certainly be a can’t-miss Art Basel show. Jamie xx with Four Tet – Mana Wynwood, December 4
Another great booking from III Points, this one in collaboration with the Young Turks record label, hits Mana Wynwood the following night. House crossover star of the year, Jamie xx, will be joined by regular b2b pal Four Tet for a rare event (at least for Floridians). Set times remain unknown, but considering the two producers went b2b for an Essential Mix this year, we can only hope attendees are in for a rare, b2b-heavy treat. Purchase tickets before the show sells out.
StageONE Art Basel with Art Department, Black Coffee, & more – 540 NW 23rd St., December 5
Miami is in for a treat on Saturday night, as New York-based venue Verboten brings its StageONE pop-up concert series to the city for the very first time. While past events sprouted up across NYC, this new Miami edition of the deep house series brings DJs such as Art Department, Black Coffee, Matthew Dear, and more to a grassroots venue in the heart of Wynwood. Miami may stack up to NYC in terms of the amount of bookings, but this rare regional crossover is sure to bring the heat. Lock in your low-priced ticket at Ticketfly while you have the chance.
Loco Dice – Space, December 5
Things are guaranteed to get crazy whenever Loco Dice plays Miami. The renown producer and DJ spun for a mind-boggling 24 hours last year during New Year’s Eve, so this reunion already comes with high expectations. Loco Dice recently released the album Underground Sound Suicide, his first LP since 2009, meaning he will come equipped with an assembly of new tracks to showcase. Space and Loco Dice go together as well as peanut butter and jelly at this point; just don’t expect to get any sleep while partying on Space’s Terrace. Head over to the Space ticket website to purchase tickets.
We’re partnering with Loco Dice to give away a whopping five pairs of tickets. Retweet our giveaway at the Your EDM Twitter account for a chance to win.
A$AP Rocky with Kaytranada and Stwo – Mana Wynwood, December 5
Saturday comes with a lot of tough choices, and alternative EDM fans can appreciate our final pick for our Art Basel guide. III Points brings A$AP Rocky to Mana Wynwood for his only Florida show since releasing his album At.Long.Last.A$AP. The accompanying acts on this lineup also hold special promise: Kaytranada is one of the hottest trip-hop, future bass producers working today, and Parisian producer Stwo represents another artist currently crossing over EDM with hip-hop in huge ways. Jump over to ShowClix to lock in tickets before they jump up in price.
