For over a decade, the English trio Above and Beyond have been producing mind blowing trance and progressive tracks for millions of listeners all across the globe. Starting back in 2004, the group began their increasingly popular show: Trance Around The World (#TATW). With 449 successful episodes under their belts, the group made a shocking announcement that they would be ending the show with one final live performance this Saturday November 10th. Your EDM is sure their 30 million plus listeners all screamed “Why?!?” in a plethora of different languages across the globe. But not to worry! Despite causing some brief turmoil in the trance community, they announced TATW450 would also be the first show of their new radio show: Group Therapy (#ABGT).

Group Therapy will begin during the live special of TATW450. The show is scheduled to take place on Saturday November 10th live from Jayamahal Palace in Bangalore, India. This special will be headlined by Above and Beyond and include MatZo, Andrew Bayer, Norin & Rad, and Jody Wisternoff.

The group felt this name was a better representation of what they want to accomplish and the relationship they wish to have between themselves, the listeners, and the audience. This shouldn’t be looked at as the end of something good, but the start of something great and the beginning of something much more than perfect melodies and well blended rhythms. Trance fans need not to be alarmed by this new change because the music, as well as the breakdown of the show, will have the same 90 minute trance mix and 30 minute guest mix as TATW had. Below is a quote from Jono, Tony, and Paavo which they posted on their site about the upcoming change:

Group Therapy captures the relationship between us, our music and you, our audience, and the magic that happens when those three things interact. It’s something you’ve all taken into your hearts and it lies at the centre of everything that we do – the community, the connection, the interaction. Our radio show is our weekly Group Therapy with all of you.” – Above and Beyond

The quote here really illustrates what Above and Beyond stands for, and more importantly the connection they want to achieve with their fans. This is a wonderfully proactive choice in the way artists choose to present themselves and the music they love. The vision they have is refreshing in a world that constantly seems overtaken by the lust for money, popularity, and fame. It’s no wonder they’re one of the best in the world because aside from smooth beats that will keep your feet moving for days, they have a beautifully crafted mindset that everyone, artists and fans, should take notes on.
