Cookie Monsta – Yow Momma EP [Circus Records]

After almost a year of anticipation, UK bass technician Cookie Monsta has finally released his infamous track titled Yow Momma as part of his latest Yow Momma EP. I clearly remember hearing the title track, Yow Momma, as part of Flux Pavilion‘s Ultra 2012 set and immediately being intrigued by the use of such a derogatory yet hilarious vocal sample. Regardless of your personal feelings towards the message of Yow Momma‘s vocals, the tune’s structure and sound design are more than enough to please any Circus Records fan’s musical palate. The EP also showcases Cookie Monsta‘s VIP mix of the tune as well as Northern Light‘s electro-house remix of the original. Cookie Monsta‘s VIP switches up the pace of the original by introducing an almost hectic amount of wobbles and bouncy synths while Northern Light‘s rendition completely transforms the original with a healthy allotment of driven electro synths and pulsating bass. The EP also features another original track and arguably my favorite track of the release, Cave of Gold. Representing a completely different facet of Cookie Monsta‘s signature sound, Cave of Gold, is a rhythmic track filled to the brim with grimy bass and eerie vocal sampling. All in all, Yow Momma is a well rounded release that emphasizes why Cookie Monsta has forged and solidified his prominent position amongst the best and brightest bass music producers. Enjoy.
