Giorgio Moroder’s Debut DJ Set In New York

This past monday, Giorgio Moroder  DJ’d his first set at the Output club in New York.  Although this was his first set ever, it seems it will not be his last.  In a recent interview with Time Out New York, Giorgio Moroder was asked about his future in performing more live gigs:

“We’ll see! Right now, I am working with Avicii here in Los Angeles, and we were talking the other day about the record business, and how far it has gone down. But the DJ is making more and more money. It’s incredible! So…I now have an agent for deejaying, and I already have a second job in Tokyo at the end of May. But I’m going to wait and see how these two go before I get too committed to it.”

An exciting move to say the least, and with a unique old school sound, i’m sure he will have a great time doing it. With a childhood passion to perform, Giorgio Moroder seems he will finally be realizing those dreams.  Make sure to check out his liveset below courtesy of the Red Bull Music Academy.

“You know, I always wanted to perform. When I was young, I did a few gigs, but I don’t have a great singing voice—plus, I always forget lyrics. So at one point, I just said, “I don’t want to do it.” But now, with deejaying—that is almost like performing! Plus, I just love dance music. I don’t do it because I want to just make money.”
