Forget Kidz Bop, children may now become EDM lovers before they even know what the Billboard Top 100 is. At Cool Pony Crown Heights in Brooklyn, New York, parents will soon be able to enroll their baby or toddler in Baby DJ School.
According to the press release, featured music will include original songs such as “Makin’ Our Favorite Beat Drop” and “That’s Why Daddy Loves Disco.” The teacher, Natalie Elizabeth Weiss, explains that the class offers several advantages for the fledgling musicians.
“Switch out a guitar for a sampler, a piano for a mixing board and a song about black sheep for a song about back beats, and you have an exciting new musical landscape that both young and old will enjoy. Best of all, electronic beats can be mixed by pushing buttons and moving sliders that are easy for little hands to manipulate.”
Classes begin on September 18th and will continue for 8 weeks.
Although the concept sounds a little ridiculous, it’s nice to hear about someone taking electronic music seriously as an art form. What do you think?
I guess it would be useful if it’s really basic stuff, pushing buttons and moving sliders while making simple sounds could stimulate a baby’s brain developement
Fun fact: the sampler I am teaching the kids with used to belong to Machinedrum. Email theunicornicopia@gmail.com to register for a free trial class.
