‘Club Drugs’ Could Be Legalized in the UK

It’s what the far-right have always feared. After the recent success Colorado and Washington achieved by legalizing recreational use of marijuana, vapid lie merchant and Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg , hopes to emulate this success by actioning a review of the drugs situation. It could be a revolutionary Home Office rethinking of drug use within the UK.

“The reform is being proposed by the Lib Dem minister for drugs policy Norman Baker and follows on from an investigation that his predecessor Jeremy Browne conducted…Browne took particular interest in New Zealand’s recent experimentation with club drugs where drug designers are being given the opportunity to gain permission and a license for their product if they can show that the pills and chemicals are safe for the user.” (Via: Mixmag)

The Home Office is also set to introduce ‘shooting galleries’, where heroin addicts can get together and receive a prescription of the drug. This could be a fantastic new approach to drug use and will hopefully reduce crime rates. However, Home Secretary Theresa May will resist any changes, as will many other members of the coalition. It is unlikely that the out of touch blue-bloods will ever budge on their views of ‘club drugs’.

But, they’ll be wrong. Because the statistics show that we need to start moving in rather different directions with regards to drug use and education. Even if it means (unfortunately for some) heading into the far left:

This is a drugs survey conducted by The Guardian, Mixmag and Gay Times. Over 22,000 applied to do it. It turns out that quite a lot of you like pot.
