Skrillex On Scientology: “Those Are My Homies”

Though not a follower of the Church of Scientology, Skillex did indeed grow up as the son of two members, unbeknownst to most. Not quick to denounce the religion, Sonny Moore defends them in expression of his annoyance with how the church’s followers tend to be “attacked in the press.” Moore‘s attendance of the L.A. arts academy, which was founded upon the teachings of Scientology’s founde, L. Ron Hubbard, and his enrollment in several Scientology courses, he admits, influenced some of his core principles. “There’s some fundamentals that were really positive that will always stick with me,” states Sonny in his first public discussion involving his religious upbringing. Skrillex went on to say that “the one thing about Scientology is the people that are in it, that are doing it, are people of good will, man.” These people including Will Smith and many other huge stars, “those are my homies, those are people I grew up with.” Though he is quick to dismiss the media’s interest in such Scientology stories, especially in regards to mega-stars in the entertainment industry, Sonny Moore‘s background remains intriguing nevertheless.
