Steve Aoki, known for his crazy on-stage and on-raft antics, has garnered a fair share of criticism by EDM fans and listeners alike surrounding his productions and performances. In a recent interview with Kaneff Productions at Made In America, Steve Aoki decided to discuss a few topics relating to his experience in the studio as well as his continuous learning of sound design and engineering. Throughout the exchange of questions and answers, Steve chatted about his past inability to produce and his recent tutelage under Deorro during the production of Freak, his collaboration with Erick Orrosquieta and Diplo.

“Eric (Deorro), he’s like an engineer’s engineer. He’s a producer’s producer […] When I’m in the studio with him, I’m a pupil. I’m learning sound design like I’ve never learned it before.”

Steve then goes on to discuss working with Diplo as well as his next two upcoming collaborations with Deorro. You can watch the full interview below.
