Habstrakt & Megalodon – The Storm EP [Never Say Die Records]

Something for Never Say Die’s hardcore fan base hit stores this week, and it’s a delicious dose of dubstep from Habstrakt and Megalodon. As a huge fan of last summer’s wicked track ’40 Cows’ that the pair wrote together, news of a full EP from the bass whizz kids left me eager as hell waiting for it to drop.

And drop it sure did, with ‘The Storm’ providing four epic pieces of bass goodness, and ones that will go off in any future live sets. ‘Yabba Dabs’ is probably the most talked about tune on this collection, with its menacing samples and lazily dragging drop sequences. If you like your bass with a hefty dose of darkness, look no further than ‘Revenge’, which would also sit very nicely on one of Never Say Die’s ‘Black Label’ EPs. The pulsating, thunderous sounds of ‘Riddim101’ are another highlight that shouldn’t be overlooked, balancing the weighty bass and chunky snare patterns perfectly.

A slamming body of work from these established producers, ‘The Storm’ is a satisfying and clever listen. You can add it to your collection here.
