Billboard Announces Avicii As EDM Artist Of The Year

After a chart-dominating year, mostly due to Avicii‘s hits “Wake Me Up!”, which finished second for top Dance/Electronic songs behind “Turn Down For What” by Lil’ Jon & DJ Snake, and “Hey Brother” which closed 2014 at seventh on the same chart; Avicii has been named Dance/Electronic Music Artist of the year by Billboard.

The Swedish DJ/Producer’s album True also finished at number three for Dance/Electronic Albums in the year and trumped everyone else in the categories of Dance/Electronic Songs and Dance/Electronic Streaming Songs.

Coupled with his duo of tracks in the top ten, and being the only artist to accomplish such a feat this year, it becomes apparent that Avicii did indeed chart better than anyone else in EDM.

Lady Gaga took the lead on Dance/Electronic Albums, and Katy Perry for Dance Club Artists; to peruse the whole chart click here.
