Jack Ü continues to break records at Billboard as both Diplo and Skrillex get their first ever track in the Hot Dance/Electronic Songs Top 10 category.
“Where Are Ü Now” went from #13 to #9 this week in the charts. The cause, while not certain, can likely be attributed to Justin Bieber who very likely brought the track to a wider audience. Skrillex & Diplo Present Jack Ü actually debuted at #1 in the Top Dance/Electronic Albums category last week, so it wasn’t nearly outside the realm of possibilities, but it’s still a significant milestone in the careers of both artists.
Skrillex and Diplo each celebrate their first top 10 on Billboard’s Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart with “Where Are Ü Now” (13-9), featuring Justin Bieber. It registered second-week sales of 17,000 downloads in the week ending March 8, according to Nielsen Music, while capturing 1.5 million U.S. streams (with 80 percent stemming from Spotify).
Bieber, the track’s vocalist, is one of eight acts featured on Skrillex & Diplo Present Jack Ü, which debuted at No. 1 on Top Dance/Electronic Albums last week (on the chart dated March 14). In addition to “Where,” Skrillex and Diplo post six other tracks on Hot Dance/Electronic Songs, including three debuts. Skrillex increases his mark as the act with the most entries (21) since the latter chart’s January 2013 launch.
As one of the more radio friendly, or at least downtempo, songs on the album, I’m not surprised that this track made the first entry into the charts, as opposed to a track like “Beats Knockin.”
