Your EDM Premiere: Saint Motel – My Type (Kraak & Smaak Remix)

Ever since I first heard “My Type” on the radio, I’ve been utterly enamored with Saint Motel and their just-off-the-beaten-path style of indie rock. It was music that I could jam out to in the car, or at home, or even better at a festival, though I haven’t personally had the chance to see them live yet.

So when I was approached to premiere a remix for their hit single, I just couldn’t say no.

Kraak & Smaak take the original progressive rock track and turn it into a groovy, bass-laden, dance masterpiece. “Slappin da bass” is a phrase that immediately comes to mind. The vocals are largely removed except for a section of the chorus and A/J Jackson’s swooning voice, leaving little to latch on to, but you don’t really need a hook. That bassline keeps the track moving the whole way through, and it’s more than enough for any dance fan to catch on to and ride until the very end.
