I’ve previously praised Mr. Carlyle for his bold interpretation of bass house in his remix of The Weeknd, and with this latest Halloween-themed track, he’s quickly becoming one of my top artists to watch in 2016.
Samples of the Michael Myers theme song have been used basically since its inception for its strong, familiar composition and inherent terrifying connotations. Colton Carlyle uses exceptionally unique sound design and vision in his interpretation of this terrifying theme, adding a hefty dance weight to it. The synth work is terribly infectious and will get stuck in your head for hours, if not days, combined with the perfectly adapted sample work.
Colton Carlyle, at this point, is definitely one of my top artists to watch in 2016, in terms of someone who hasn’t already broken yet. (Also check out On Planets.) Watch this space, because you’ll be seeing a lot more of him in the future.
