I always love to hear producers get a little wild with their percussion. For one thing, when you’re not limited by physical limbs, having sounds that are impossible in real life isn’t an issue. Synthesizers and drum kits are wildly popular in electronic music anyway, so why not push them a little bit.
Innovative percussion isn’t the only thing needed for a great song, however. There are other essential elements, and Matchbox Orchestra excels in bringing them up slowly from the darkness until they burst forth in glorious and reckless abandon.
