Very rarely do I jump in on the ground floor of an artist like Stel Leo, a Los Angeles transplant from Bermuda. It’s even more rare that I’m not completely impressed by a track, but I still choose to premiere it because of how much potential it shows in the artist.
Such is the case with “Goddess” – I’m really not blown away by the mixing on the track; there are a lot of sounds that could fit together in better ways, but the sound design and vision behind the track are unlike most rising producers today. The mixture of future and glitch, utilizing clipping and sweeping synths, the combination of styles from the likes of Porter Robinson and Flume shows, at the very least, comprehension of complex production styles and a unique vision behind the music.
