Earlier this week, Beyonce took to her Instagram page to upload a photo of herself and her newly revealed pregnancy. The post’s description indicated that she will be having twins with her longtime husband Jay-Z.
Judging from the already noticeable belly bump, it is likely that Beyonce is already well into her pregnancy, leading many to circulate rumors that her April spot at the top of Coachella’s headlining list might be in jeopardy. With less than three months until her slotted performances in Indio, California, worries have sprung up among attendees and Goldenvoice organizers alike.
According to several reports, Goldenvoice was not informed of Beyonce’s pregnancy ahead of her Instagram post. Despite one unnamed source’s statement that Beyonce will be going ahead with the Coachella performances she promised, the time for the festival organizers to begin looking for possible replacements is now upon them.
With fellow headliners Radiohead and Kendrick Lamar already penned in, no one can tell which artist might be reached out to for a Beyonce replacement set. Whether Goldenvoice might opt for a similar hip hop/R&B alternative, or go the other direction with a legend from the rock or electronic realms, is yet to be seen.
Regardless, for the time being, attendees are left with Beyonce’s word that her Coachella performances will not be affected by her pregnancy.
