Your EDM’s Artists to Watch 2015

Mr. Carmack is one of the few names on our list that we’ve carried over from last year, but we couldn’t be any more confident in the decision. After one of the most exciting years in music, his reach and influence can now be seen permeating communities far outside dance music’s boundaries. From collaborations and remixes to the release of his two EPs and guest spots on Joe Kay’s Soulection Radio show, Carmack will enter the new year with a heavy résumé. Beginning in January, he will embark on a world tour with openers Sam Gellaitry and Teeko through the US, Europe and Africa. His recent mix for Beats 1 Radio also revealed a staggering number of unreleased tracks that he’ll likely release in the upcoming months.

Mr. Carmack just remixed Kendrick Lamar‘s track “DNA” into an absolutely filthy, bass-driven trap song…

This dude, a true legend, ever so casually explained the bootlegged remix in his SoundCloud description: “been busy trying to apply concepts to my music, but DNA inspired me to crank out this bootleg earlier this morning. have it for free. peace.”

The fierce lyrical delivery on “DNA” leads the track, and then it takes an interesting turn — chilling out to a vibey sampling of Travis Scott‘s “Goosebumps,” which also features Lamar.

So, this is proof Mr. Carmack can “crank out” a bangin’ track before most people have even figured out what they’re having for breakfast. As if we had any doubts before.
