Mat Zo and The Knocks have combined their talents to form The Mary Nixons — a brand new project that sounds incredibly meant-to-be!
NYC-bred electronic duo The Knocks (B-Roc and JPatt) and London born, LA-based industry powerhouse Mat Zo have a really good thing going on, as heard by the world for the first time through “Adrian.” While the term “supergroup” isn’t one to be thrown around, these guys have deservingly taken on the title with just one exquisitely produced track, and promise of more to come.
The fusion of their styles creates an explosion of artistic energy, as “Adrian” carries a bright, tropical outlook on both music and life in general. Everybody kind of wants to trade their life for a more carefree one — a life without the worries and hustle bustle of everyday monotony — and The Mary Nixons nail down exactly what chasing that modern day dream sounds like. Coincidentally, they do the same thing through sound, by totally changing up what we should expect music to sound like in 2017.
Soft and beautiful, with 8-bit blips and endless intricacies, “Adrian” perfects an infectiously happy essence while packing in some underlying low-end grittiness. It’s somehow a throwback and a new school track at the same time.
