Kid Froopy Drops Unique Video For “Drive Slow”

Kid Froopy’s “Drive Slow” has been one of my favourite releases all of July. Kid Froopy’s ability to write (and sing) catchy hooks with bittersweet lyrics set over 80s-influenced production has set him apart as what one the most interesting acts to watch in the pop/electronic space. His new music video for “Drive Slow” also shows off his creativity once more with a video that perfectly matches his funky 80s aesthetic.

Shot entirely on an iPhone 7, no this is not a sponsored Apple post, the music video follows our protagonist as she wanders the streets of Los Angeles seemingly in search for something greater. Don’t take my word for it though, let’s hear it from the man himself.

“I wanted the video to feel kinda breezy and lo-fi. The lyric of the song isn’t super narrative and I wanted the video to reflect that. It’s very loose and open ended and pretty. The director, Kyle DePinna, did a lot of improvising finding day in the life type shots. I love how it turned out, and I hope it captures the vibe of the song.”
