Saint WKND has been a rising force in dance music this year, with his Golden Youth EP, various singles, and a string of fresh tour dates. Th same could be said of vocalist MAX, who just this year has worked with Whethan & Flux Pavilion, Illenium, Rain Man, Audien, Pluto, and more, in addition to Saint WKND on their collaboration “Survive.”
The single received an official remix pack this past weekend, featuring cuts from Y.V.E. 48 ans Famba, but perhaps most impressively from PLS&TY. While the original is a slow burn, R&B/ballad chimera, the remix pumps up the BPM just a tad to bring out that next level of energy buried beneath the surface. Keeping MAX’s vocals largely intact is also a wonderful choice, as they’re quite simply impossible to hate.
As for the new drop, I just have to state again how much I love arpeggios, and they’re used to fantastic effect here. More than that, the drop shows that future bass doesn’t have to be so one-dimensional, embodying elements of bass music and pop together with unique percussion and rhythmic elements.
There’s no doubt that hearing this dropped live would cause my body to move in unspeakable ways, but listening to it at home isn’t half bad either. Check it out below.
