It was a truly magical night at Exchange LA this past Saturday, as the club joined forces with Dreamstate and hosted legendary trance producer Paul van Dyk. The German pioneer took the crowd on an absolute journey as incredible visuals and lasers simply launched everyone into deep space. Showcasing his latest album Music Rescues Me, Paul displayed that he has not strayed one bit from his uplifting melodic trance roots. Released at the end of last year, Paul returned to his tried and true sound, while also staying modern and fresh.
Not only was Paul having a blast jumping around on stage during his performance, you saw how he’s stayed relevant through all these years, while also staying true to what he does best. Let us not forget there was a time when PvD was the most sought after DJ on the planet, being crowned the world’s #1 DJ back in 2005 and 2006, when he, along with Tiësto and Armin van Buuren really started taking trance, and EDM in general, on the road to a worldwide audience. Whereas the music Tiësto and Armin make today sounds much different than what they were doing back then, Paul’s sound hasn’t changed one bit, and it’s delightful.
Unfortunately, if you missed out on this show, you’re going to have to travel to Europe this summer to see Paul. That being said, Paul will be playing lots of upcoming shows including his SHINE Ibiza residency at Eden Ibiza Thursday nights, starting in July. He’ll also be playing TomorrowLand, Creamfields, and Mysteryland as well this summer. Check out the video below of Paul van Dyk’s insane performance at Exchange LA.
