Your EDM Premiere: Ripple’s Ambitious Debut LP Will Create a Ripple ‘Effect’ in D&B [Ripple Music Ltd]

The duo known as Ripple who punters will have seen on all three Let It Roll rosters are about to be more than local favorites in Czechia with their upcoming self-released debut album, aptly named Effect (Ripple – Effect, get it?). The Czech/Slovak duo comprised of individual artists PmdR and Spill have come a long way since their first releases, their most prominent singles to date appearing on Mainframe Recordings and Neonlight’s DIASCOPE imprint. They’ve always been diverse in their releases, however, leaning towards darkstep throwback sounds in general but not above an uplifting liquid tune. This style but even more dialed in is what typifies Effect.

Ripple have been teasing singles for Effect as far back as January, with “RAVE,” “Talking” and “Goin’ Hard” featuring Neonlight charting as three of their ten most popular tracks on Beatport. It’s clear they’re on the right path as they’ve pitched up the usual dark tones in “Goin’ Hard,” injected some neuro and amens into “RAVE” and spliced cinematic sound design and minimal 174 techno into “Talking.” If that’s not enough diversity on one album, wait until you hear our premiere, “Forever.”

Ripple have always had a softer side, but teaming up on “Forever” with another diverse liquid-lover Sovryn seems to have really galvanized it for them. On the dancefloor side of liquid, “Forever” is fun and ravey but has a good backbone of cinematic sound design that would make it good for a festival or as a smaller club track. Guess that’s what you get from artists who regularly play Let It Roll.

Ripple · 009 Ripple & Sovryn – Forever

As the last single to release before Effect drops on August 20, “Forever” is here to make sure fans know there will be more than a few surprises on the album. Synth-heavy dancefloor, ambient liquid vibes, 174 techno, dark and heavy sub bass and more await listeners with this ambitious album. There’s something for everyone contained therein, and it shows Ripple to be part of a wave of genre-busting artists who just want to make good beats. Hopefully it will have a Ripple effect on the community.

Effect drops in full Friday, August 20 on Ripple’s own Ripple Music Ltd. imprint. Click here to pre-order or pre-save.
