Platinum-selling South African Afro house producer and DJ Prince Kaybee shared a remarkable remix of Karmacoda’s single ‘Time’. Released today via Sola Musa Music, the remix zooms in on Prince Kaybee‘s discerning ear and reinforces his position as global Afro House royalty.
Afro house has taken the world by storm, with its warm melodies, powerful percussion and vocals that move the soul and feel like home. This remix is no different, and highlights global impact of the groundbreaking genre.
Prince Kaybee’s international profile was cemented with a Best Collaboration win at the Soundcity MVP Awards Festival in Nigeria for his single ‘Gugulethu’, plus recognition from the African Muzik Magazine Awards (AFRIMMA). Additionally, his single ‘Uwrongo’ was featured in TIME Magazine’s 10 Best Songs of 2020.
The original track touches on themes of regret and introspection. It features subtle, auto-tuned vocals, interwoven into a kaleidoscope of piano chords, a steady shaker and mesmerising melody. Prince Kaybee submerged the original track into an Afro House masterpiece by injecting it with a super-charged, yet steady Afro House beat which forms the backbone of the remix. The sublime piano arpeggios induce a striking emotional resonance, hypnotising the listener into a kaleidoscope of emotions from introspection to joy and even hints of melancholy.
Sharing more on the remix Prince Kaybee told us: “When I make music I see color, so the vocals on the original remind me of blue and I usually associate blue with a mild cold or a subtle fresh breeze. So before I did the remix I needed to find its color that’s how it started.”
