A recently published report has found that women won less than a quarter of all GRAMMY awards at the 2026 GRAMMY’s. The report, which is aptly titled The Missing Voices of Women in the 2026 GRAMMY’s, found that women won only 23% of the 270 awards, across 95 categories. This finding dropped by 14% compared to the 2025 GRAMMY’s.
When it comes to nominations, it’s not any better. Just 24% of all GRAMMY nominations were women, while men made up 74% of the nominees. Additionally, the report pointed out that for every woman who won a GRAMMY, men were awarded four trophies in the last decade. The report stated that; “The share of women’s nominations and wins in the Grammys in the last decade has never been close to parity, much less domination, despite headlines pushing this narrative in the past. Women’s recognition has hit an invisible and sturdy glass ceiling.”
On the production front, only men have been the recipients of the Producer of the Year Non-Classical GRAMMY award, which is a category that has been in existence for 52 years. However, the biggest decline across all categories is within the Album of the Year category, which saw a drastic drop where just 8% of women were nominated in this category, however none of them won.
