Since the news of Wasserman talent agency CEO and founder Casey Wasserman’s involvement with Ghislaine Maxwell dropped last week, many artists have taken a stand and denounced Casey’s actions.
Aside from publicly denouncing Casey, artists like Lane 8, REZZ, Chappell Roan, Levity, Tape B and ODESZA have officially announced their departure from the agency. The list of artists who have chosen to leave seems to be increasing everyday (and rightfully so); with Levity, Subtronics and Seven Lions also announcing their intention to leave, while John Summit shared a post last week saying that if Casey does not step down, he will leave the agency.
Most of the artists have shared their own personal statements and perspectives on social media, many of which have cited that this has nothing to do with their respective agents, but instead, they’re refuting the actions of Casey Wasserman himself. Additionally, many of their statements have also explained that they weren’t able to speak out as soon as they wanted to because there are a lot of moving parts in the decision-making process, and it could potentially have a financial and legal impact on certain employees’ livelihoods. 
One such statement, made by Subtronics on his Instagram story said; “ I haven’t posted about this along with a lot of other artists because there are people working around the clock to navigate an absolute nightmare situation with legal complexities that could jeopardize the livelihoods of people who are not connected if they move or speak too soon”.
Seven Lions shared a similar sentiment on his Instagram account; “I have no intention of staying at Wasserman under the current name and ownership of Casey Wasserman. At the same time, I need to give my team the space to navigate a really difficult situation that none of us asked for. None of the agents and people I work with are responsible for what’s happening, and it’s genuinely painful to see them put in this position.”
In another statement also made on his Instagram story, Lane 8 said; “I have communicated to my team that I no longer wish to be represented by the Wasserman Music agency.” Tape B also announced that he will be leaving the agency. On his Instagram story he stated; “I think what’s going on with the Epstein files is absolutely disgusting and I refuse to be represented by company whose CEO has ties with these monsters”.
Additionally, bass trio Levity said; “We are no longer represented by the Wasserman Talent Agency”, while REZZ also shared to her stories; “I have no intention of staying at a company owned by Casey Wasserman. My team has been working to figure this out. Thanks for your patience.”
At the time of publication, Casey Wasserman has said that he will officially be stepping down from his role as CEO, and that he will sell his share of the company.
