ZHU has unveiled his latest single, ‘BURN’ featuring the stunning vocals from Canadian singer-songwriter Joyia. The single is the second track to be released from his upcoming album BLACK MIDAS, which drops 20 March.
‘BURN’ has a distinct alt R&B and Afro House feel to it, and offers listeners an early glimpse into what promises to be a deeply personal album. The track pushes beyond conventional boundaries, delivering a dark, cinematic soundscape anchored in themes of loss and renewal. Built around a slick synth melody and a swelling, heavy bassline, the track is elevated by Joyia’s sublime and warm vocals which contribute a profound sense of emotional depth.
The track was inspired by ZHU’s displacement after the LA fires took place last year. Although his house and studio weren’t affected, ZHU spent the remainder of 2025 rebuilding and rebranding, which is how BLACK MIDAS came to life.
