Zedd’s remix EP to his huge hit “Clarity” has officially seen its release and boy is it a beauty. Although not as strong as his Spectrum EP, it features a little bit of everything, from a booming trap remix to an electro-house banger that will tear the paint off your walls. Even more, it offers a special remix from the one and only, Tiesto, something Zedd has been hyping up for weeks. Here’s my thoughts:

Zedd – Clarity (Zedd Union Mix):

This fascinating orchestral track, first heard live on Letterman, broke away from the dance sound and focused directly on the brilliant musicianship and arrangement of Zedd. No matter how many times you listen, it still remains beautiful.

Finally, the remix we all have been waiting for! It follows Tiesto’s signature sound with a prog house feel as it builds then drops into an unexpected bass frenzy(think “Chasing Summers”). However, it did not meet my full expectations because I know Tiesto could have done a lot more with it, yet, it is enjoyable nevertheless.

Zedd – Clarity (Style of Eye Remix):

Definitely the strongest track of the EP as Style of Eye finds a way to wreak havoc into “Clarity” with their frenetic Electro bass-ified drop. More could have been put into driving the verse and building it up, but outside of that it was a fantastic take on the original.

Zedd – Clarity (Brillz Remix):

At first listen, I admit, I wasn’t impressed. However, over the past few days this remix has grown on me and is truly the perfect song to complete the EP. Its melodic buildup, gritty drop, and vigorous 808’s fuel the track that will captivate you even if you aren’t a trap fan.

The Clarity EP is solid, simmering with new talent and offering excellent versions to Zedd’s original take. Unlike his Spectrum EP, Clarity brings a more diverse approach, ranging from Trap, to a symphonic sound, to explosive, electro-house drops. We look forward to Zedd’s next contest and hope to see one of your songs in a release! With all that in mind, we always love to hear what you think. Was the Clarity EP better than the Spectrum EP?
