2001: A Daft Odyssey

2001: A Daft Odyssey

Whenever I see one of these types of posts or announcements I tend to always come out disappointed, but in this case, I can assure you that Daft Punk’s collaborative piece with DJ Falcon, titled Contact is indeed perfectly synced to one of the closing scenes of Stanley Kubrick’s masterpiece 2001: A Space Odyssey. The fit is so striking that one has to wonder whether Daft Punk ultimately made the track with this scene in mind and what significance it has to them. The movie delves into interesting themes, some that have been brought up by Daft Punk themselves in recent interviews. Notions such as the perils of technology and how computers, could intrinsically not convey the emotions that they attempted to channel with their latest album, relaying a sense of irony, coming from robots.

Whatever the case may be, let us know what you think in the comment section below!

Daft Punk probably went back in time and paid Kubrick to make this music video for them.

My question always is and always will be I guess => how on earth does the guy who found out about this, actually found out? I mean are there people out there trying to sync an artist’s song with any movie he knows just in case something might match?

the youtube video has been taken down but based on the thumnail I had a decent idea when the song starts in relation to 2001. I am almost certain now that I have tried playing the song to the movie that the song starts when the the big letters come up saying: “Jupiter and Beyond the Infinite” (after HAL is killed/shut down). I played this on my blu ray and it is one of the chapters that you can skip to.

Oh and its pretty cool. honestly like it better than the spooky music used by kubrick in 2001 but the original probably fits the tone of the movie better than this song daft punk made. you can’t have a cooler unoficial music video for your song than one that was filmed by Stanley Kubrick. maybe tarantino or miyazaki come close in my opinion but Kubrick is one of my favorite movie directors.
