Zeds Dead dropped some huge news this week, as the Canadian duo announced an extensive fall tour along with a four track EP from all the touring artists. Among these names to join Zeds Dead across North America include Paper Diamond, Green Lantern, and Branchez.
The Altered States EP played out to be exactly as one would expect, with the different styles and genres of each artist’s track changing from one to the next. Zeds Dead‘s brand new track and feature on the EP, “By Your Side”, really brought out the soft side of the duo, which is different than what most of us are used to. I’ll always be a fan of their heavier dubstep, but do realize this Altered States EP is all about different kinds of perceptions stemming from their music. Green Lantern and Paper Diamond delivered huge trap originals of their own, which will undoubtedly light up the tour stages this fall. And last but certainly not least, there is Branchez and his bootleg of “Open”. I never thought it would become my favorite track on the EP, but there is just no better song to lay back and relax to. With a chill beat comparable to Aphex Twin’s “Flim”, and the soft yet melodious vocals of the original track, Branchez created a masterpiece with his latest work.
