After accusing EDM of feeling ‘too generic’, Alexander Ridha has been playing his cards close by not revealing too much information and allowing anticipation for his latest EP to grow. After the revelation of the title track, which attempts to quite brilliantly weld rap and acid house together (a popular endeavor these days), Alexander promised there was a more diverse sound in store and that ‘Go Hard’ was only, ‘one facet’ of the album.

The EP opens with ‘Excuse Me’ which is a fantastic hardcore/acid mashup. It sets up the more minimalist ‘Inhale/Exhale’ which entrances with it’s grating robotic voices and pounding rhythm. ‘Starwin’ is a personal highlight with it’s acid house connotations combining a summery French house vibe that wouldn’t sound out of place on a release from Roulè. ‘Push Em Up’ finishes up the EP by providing another sick rave beat with short stabs of vocals and unrelenting synths.

Overall the EP is an exciting effort and never once staggers into the ridiculous with it’s dabbling in hardcore and rave. It marks the beginning of a world tour that will take him to Lollapalooza, Electric Zoo and saw him at the Electric Daisy Carnival at Las Vegas, which the team at YourEDM have provided extensive coverage on.
