KJ Sawka Demonstrates His Octapad Setup With Help From The Party Penguin

“ARE YOU READY FOR THE BASS?” … “ARE YOU READY FOR THE DRUMS?” … “Alright, here we go.”

KJ Sawka, original drummer for Pendulum and now touring live with dubstep band Destroid, also occasionally does the solo DJ performance. How might a drummer do a solo DJ show you might ask? With the Octapad, of course!! Sawka demonstrates his talent for rhythm and drums in this 5-minute snippet of what he’s actually doing when he’s playing solo. Mapped to Ableton, the drum pad connects to the drum rack and plays out according to the basslines currently going on in any track. Since he’s busy drumming, all his sets will be heavily practiced and pre-set, but that doesn’t make what he’s doing any less glamorous.

Also, he’s got the Party Penguin to keep him company. So there’s that.
